Caption:
Neison's map of the Moon by Edmund Neville Nevill (1851-1940) published in 1876. This 24 inch lunar map with 500 named features is based on the earlier Beer & Madler Moon map first printed in 1830. The map accompanies the book, 'The Moon' that Nevill wrote under the name of Edmund Neison. It is notable as the first observer's guide to the Moon to be written in English. The map was an improvement on its predecessor in that it was easier to use and the associated book had enlargements of prominent lunar craters such as Maginus and Gassendi.
